According to recent news reports I've read and seen, this is going to be a BIG year for fleas!  Anyone who knows me, knows that I love my dogs, my friends' dogs, all dogs... and I know that sometimes, dog get fleas (cat's do, too, btw).  Most responsible pet owners groom their pets regularly, and we notice when our dogs are scratching excessively or showing signs of discomfort.  Regrettably, many pets don't have the benefit of living with an advocate for all things canine, and they can become victim to these horrible, persistent little creeps... fleas. 

Whether you are buying or selling, it is imperative to make sure that you have not allowed any kind of infestation to overtake your home and yard.  Sellers, if you have pets-- make sure they are properly groomed and contained during showings.  If you see that they have a flea or tick problem, you can bet the problem is in your yard and house.  It needs to be addressed immediately-- as quickly, safely and effectively as possible.

Buyers, pay attention to the things you cannot see.  If the seller asks that you not go into the yard during your showing due to "the dogs", make sure your agent arranges a time for the showing when the seller can make arrangements for the pets to be out of the way.  And if, during the option period, when you have an opportunity for full disclosure, you notice any kind of bug problem, make the treatment a condition of sale.  There is no reason that you should be burdened with it, once you have moved in.
