Dallas Real Estate News

I have begun the annual end-of-year business report compilations for Elle Realty.  You know, the stuff that CPA's and Cox School of Business graduates drool over:  annual sales volume broken down by agent, listings versus buyer transactions, average percentage commission, average sales price, high yield months, etc., etc., etc.  Reflecting about the events of the past twelve months, after a weekend of Christmas festivities and an occasional whiff of artificially pine-scented air, I am suddenly very aware that another year is almost over.  With the exception of a couple of closings still on the books for the month of December, this is it!

So here I am, planning next year's success in an office that this time last year, I only imagined as something that might possibly happen some day.  I have met my personal goal for agent recruiting for the year, and I have begun the daunting task of calculating exactly what we need to do next year in order to pay for ourselves.  (This is an expensive business by the way-- something that many new agents are surprised by and something that most people probably haven't even thought about.  Dues, dues, dues-- board dues, association dues, mls dues, showing service fees, Realtor.com expenses, suprakey fees, cost of signage, telephone service, car expenses, and so on... I digress.)

The thing is that when we look at anything like this in it's totality-- looking backward or forward, it can be overwhelming.  Thankfully the "OMG, we have to do what? moment has passed for me, and I have had a chance to adjust my perspective to one that is much less traumatizing.  I've reverted to the old goals and objectives strategy from my teaching days and broken it all down into manageable increments of success.  When I do that and then think about the past twelve months and how very far we've come as a company, the future doesn't seem nearly as daunting: especially when I consider all the people who are in my thoughts and prayers of gratitude!

As a broker, I couldn't ask for better agents.  As a Realtor, I couldn't ask for better clients.  As a business owner, I couldn't ask for a more supportive family, circle of friends and community.  So here it is... 2010 winding down, getting wrapped up in a color coded excel spread sheet and fastened with a big bow of good wishes.  We are anticipating a great 2011, and we hope you will want to be part of it with us.  Don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything at all that we can do to assist you with your real estate needs.

Here's to the happiest of holidays and best wishes to you all for a spectacular new year!
