By World War I Wilmer had two grocery stores, two drug stores, a livery stable, a restaurant, a blacksmith, the Citizen’s Cotton Oil Company, White Banking Company, and a population of more than two hundred citizens. By 1990, Wilmer had twenty volunteer firefighters, seven police officers, three lumber suppliers, four manufacturers, its own library, a mayor-council government, and nearly two thousand, five hundred residents. Today, Wilmer is home to even more fabulous services and amenities, as well as an abundance of small-town charm and proximity to a long list of desirable big-city conveniences, including fabulous options for shopping, dining, recreation, and entertainment.
